Have you ever found paradise on earth? One place that’s a strong contender for best paradise on earth is the Baobab Beach Resort and Spa in Diani Beach, Kenya. If you’re looking for a great resort on the coast of Kenya, then this is the perfect option to enjoy an all-inclusive and relaxing vacation!

Baobab Beach Resort Information

The Baobab Beach Resort and Spa is an all-inclusive resort located on Diani Beach in Kenya. This means that your accommodation, meals, soft drinks, most alcoholic drinks, and entertainment are included in the price you pay to stay at the resort…it’s like a cruise, but on land!

The Diani Beach resort overlooks the Indian Ocean, providing excellent views while you lounge by the pools. Or you can take the steps down to the beach and enjoy walking on the soft, white sand and dipping your toes in the ocean!

Some of the amenities included with your stay are three separate swimming pools, three tennis courts, archery, water aerobics, darts, table tennis, shuffle board, beach volley ball, board games, a library, and more!

There are also three restaurants available with your all-inclusive stay: Karibu, Jodari, and Maridadi. You can eat at any of these for a buffet style meal, but if you want to eat from one of the a la carte restaurants (Marhaba and Tangezi) you will pay extra. And of course there are bars throughout the resort (with most alcohol except international drinks free) and even a swim up bar at one of the pools!

In the evenings, the resort’s entertainment team puts on a variety of shows for your enjoyment and there is usually a “disco” dance afterward. All in all, you have everything you could possibly need at Baobab for an out-of-this-world all-inclusive vacation!

Baobab Resort Experience

During my time at the Baobab, I found this to be a delightful resort experience. It was my first time at the Indian Ocean and I was so excited about dipping my toes in this ocean for the first time! Little did I know how much I would come to enjoy the resort experience as well.

So let’s start with the beach: stunning! Amazing! The whitest and softest sand I’ve ever seen. I loved walking on it and sinking down into it with every step. There is a lot of seaweed, but at certain times of day the seaweed seemed to recede or disappear from some spots on the beach.

As you walk across the sand, there are a ton of little white crabs that scurry out of your way. They are so small and move so fast that they basically just look like a gust of wind has picked up some grains of sand! It’s really fun to watch them as they move along the beach and disappear down into the tiny holes they’ve dug in the ground.

If you’re out in the early morning, or if you move very quietly and gently during the day, you may even be treated to the sight of some bigger crabs. They seem to be the same type of crab, but have just lived long enough to grow to about the size of a human fist. At sunrise the beach is just crawling with them and it’s really cool!

However, something else the beach is crawling with during the day: beach boys. No, not those Beach Boys. Just a bunch of guys who want to sell you a bunch of things—from jewelry to boat tours. For some people this may be nice as you can do your shopping on the beach (and why would they keep coming out every day if no one buys from them?) but for me I found it quite annoying as I just wanted to be left alone. They were very friendly, but I wanted to enjoy the water, take pictures, and wander around without being accosted every minute. So this was a bit of a disappointment, but isn’t something specific to Baobab…just a beach-wide thing that happens to anyone walking on the beach from any resort in the area.

But as far as the resort, the swimming pools are beautiful! You could really spend your entire vacation just at the swimming pools. My favorite pools here are the infinity pool for swimming and for views overlooking the ocean, and the pool with the swim up bar for the fun of it (you can order alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks, as is your preference).

With all the palm trees and beautiful garden settings throughout the resort, this paradise of a hotel really hits it out of the park. The staff are friendly and the entertainment team is enthusiastic (which may be a good or bad thing, depending on whether or not you like to accidentally get roped into doing water aerobics 😉). And with everything all-inclusive, you can just leave all your valuables and wallet in the safe in your room and enjoy a stress-free holiday (and enjoy all the snacks you want throughout the day too!)

Want to stay here? (I know I already want to go back!) If you do, then go ahead and check out the Baobab Resort to see their availability!

Animals at Baobab Beach Resort

Something else that I loved about this Diani Beach accommodation was all the animals! There were several adorable cats who liked to wander the grounds, take naps on the chairs next to you, follow you back to your room, or try to steal popcorn and french fries from you when you aren’t looking. They are super sweet and friendly and very vocal, but will leave you alone if you don’t pay them any attention. (But why wouldn’t you pay them attention?!)

There were also a ton of really fun Sykes’ monkeys that hang around the place and jump through trees and eat coconuts and the like. I say really fun, because I found them enjoyable, but my traveling companions were freaked out and not a fan at all. But a word of warning: whether you like these monkeys or not, you should NEVER feed them or try to get close to them (there are signs around that warn you!) because you’ll quickly become a target and they may bite and that wouldn’t be a good situation. No one needs rabies included on their all-inclusive vacation.

So I found it really enjoyable to get up in the morning and watch them all running and playing together and eating ants and generally having a jolly time. In the evenings, they also love to swing through the trees and may use your balcony as a playground…which, again, I found really fun. But my traveling companions…well, not so much.

From time to time you’ll also see baboons wandering the resort. Again, I think “So exciting!” and my traveling companions think “She’s nuts!” But part of the guards’ job description at Baobab is to keep the baboons away, so you don’t have to worry about being in danger. One time I started out to follow (from a distance) a baboon I saw and pretty soon a guard showed up with a big stick to shoo it away. So you are safe and taken care of at Baobab, but if you enjoy seeing fun animals that you may not usually see at home then this is an added bonus for you!
