Welcome to Happy Go Abi! I’m Abi—a California girl, adventurer, and storyteller.

If you crave striking outdoor adventures like exploring underground lava tubes or hiking in beautiful national parks, love unusual & boutique accommodation (hello sleeping in King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn’s honeymoon castle!), or find yourself repeatedly searching Google Flights and yelling “OH MY GOODNESS THERE’S $300 AIRFARE FROM THE US TO COPENHAGEN NEXT WEEK”…well, then you will feel right at home here at Happy Go Abi!

Here at Happy Go Abi you’ll find stories that will inspire you to travel to new places as well as practical and helpful information to help you actually get out and explore! And let’s be honest, you’ll also find the occasional post telling you about where you can go to kiss a giraffe or see other animals in an ethical way…as well as a few posts about how to travel as an introvert, because travel gets exhausting real fast even at the same time as it’s exciting!

So what are we waiting for? Let’s get you out and exploring this crazy, beautiful world!

A little about my travel journey…

A mother/daughter trip to England in 2015 set in motion events that would lead to my eventual return to England as a student at the University of Oxford.  This first trip to the UK introduced me to the beauty and bustle of London, to the stunning Lake District (and wandering in Wordsworth’s footsteps!), and to the prevalence of magnificent estates à la Jane Austen.

On my return in 2016 for my graduate degree in English at Oxford, I once again fell in love with the rich history of this land (though I still haven’t made my peace with minty peas…what a strange food) and soon discovered with delight that I could fly from England to completely different countries for less than it costs to fly from one side of California to the other!

Thus, amid the perils of an introvert moving abroad alone, countless days spent poring over medieval manuscripts in dimly lit (but gorgeous) libraries, the ever-present study-induced existential crises, and too many late-night stops by kebab vans…I found myself daydreaming about new locations to visit and discover.

I spent Christmas in Germany, spring break roaming Greece, then graduated with my MSt in English (650-1550) and set off on a month-long adventure that took me from Scotland and Ireland to France and Italy.  I haven’t looked back since.

These days I spend my time divided between the sunny land of California and anywhere (and everywhere!) else, freelancing and sharing the world as I discover it.  I’m always up for an adventure and never pass up an opportunity to sit in the window seat on an airplane, meet local cats in foreign lands, or chase the sunrise.

Thanks for stopping by Happy Go Abi—I’d love to meet you, so feel free to reach out or drop by my InstagramFacebook, or Twitter to say hello!
